Y el mejor chocolate del mundo es..

The International Chocolate Awards, el gran premio de este sector de la gastronomía, acaba de anunciar sus ganadores, en un acto celebrado en Londres. Este galardón selecciona los mejores en dos categorías: chocolate negro y con leche. En el segundo apartado, la marca peruana Cacaosuyo ha logrado que su tableta «Piura Milk» fuera reconocida como el mejor del mundo. El chocolate peruano ha logrado desbancar al suizo en la categoría de mejor cacao y, además, Cacaosuyo también ganó las medallas de oro como mejor producto orgánico, mejor fabricante de chocolate, mejor comerciante y mejor país productor de cacao. El mejor chocolate negro es el Porcelana, de Rogue Chocolatier, dEstados Unidos.

La empresa peruana trabaja directamente con agricultores y comunidades indígenas, tanto en la cosecha como en la elaboración del cacao, de forma meticulosa y tradicional. En principio, este chocolate se creó para la exportación (Japón, Francia, Suecia, Inglaterra, Bélgica...), aunque ahora también tiene un importante mercado interno.

«Estamos orgullosos y felices porque hoy ya no es un chocolate de leche suizo el mejor del mundo, sino un chocolate peruano", declaró el gerente de la fábrica creadora de Cacaosuyo, Samir Giha.

Cacaosuyo produce chocolate fino con cacao blanco, considerado como uno de los más raros del mundo, cultivado en la región norteña de Piura. «En las profundidades de la Amazonía peruana, nuestra querida tierra, encontramos una inmensa reserva de variedades de cacao, el último tesoro inca. Con cada región tiene un sabor diferente, la expresión de un territorio único. Cosechamos y transformamos estos granos de cacao en las barras de chocolate», aseguran.

Perú alberga el 60 % de las especies de cacao del mundo y es uno de los principales productores, según la Asociación Peruana de Productores de Cacao (Appcacao).

Estos son los tres principales premios.

Mejor chocolate negro: Rogue Chocolatier (Estados Unidos) – Porcelana.

Mejor chocolate con leche. Piura Milk, de Cacaosuyo (Perú).

Mejor chocolate blanco. Icoa, de Chocolates El Rey (Venezuela).
